When you hire someone online without protection, you're taking a risk. Escrow eliminates both risks.

What escrow means

Escrow is a secure holding arrangement where a trusted third party holds funds until both sides fulfil their obligations.

The flow

  1. Client funds escrow. After a bid is accepted, the client pays the agreed amount. The money moves into a secure escrow account, not to the grafter.
  2. Work begins. The grafter sees that funds are secured and begins work.
  3. Client confirms completion. Once done to the client's satisfaction, they tap "Confirm complete." Funds are released immediately to the grafter.
  4. Auto-release after 24 hours. If the client takes no action after the grafter marks work complete, funds are automatically released after 24 hours.

What happens in a dispute

If the client is unhappy with the work, they can raise a dispute before confirming completion. Graft's team reviews the case and makes a fair determination. Most disputes are resolved within 48 hours.

Protection fee

Graft charges a 6% protection fee on each escrow payment, and 2% on a cash job. The client pays it on top of the price agreed: a $100 job is charged as $106, plus the payment company’s own small charge for paying online. The grafter receives the full $100. Our fee is never taken out of their pay. See exactly how the money moves.
